Dubai Future Foundation Holds First Workshop for 10X Team Leaders

March 22, 2017

The Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) organized the first of several two-day training workshop for the leaders of the 10X teams, held at the Dubai Future Accelerators (DFA) program’s headquarters in Emirates Towers.

The Dubai 10X initiative – launched at the 5th World Government Summit in 2017 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai – is a radical program that seeks to establish “X Labs” in every government entity and position Dubai 10 years ahead of the rest of the world.

The workshop constitutes the next step for the 10X initiative and heeds directives from Their Highnesses Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

It seeks to educate the team leaders about the initiative’s objectives, as well as the timeline and deliverables to be executed in order to achieve its end goals. Gathering team leaders from 35 participating government departments, the inaugural training workshop coached participants in the optimal approaches to apply when selecting team members in order to form effective and efficient groups that can achieve the initiative’s objectives in the allocated timeframe.

Amer Al Awadhi, Director of the Dubai 10X initiative, said: “The course underlines the pivotal and indispensable role that team leaders play in the Dubai 10X initiative. It seeks to provide them with the necessary training to do their part in achieving the initiative’s goals to implement in Dubai today what other cities around the world will be adopting 10 years from now.”

“The program’s curriculum offers rich in-depth courses to adequately prepare participants for the coming phases of the initiative,” Al Awadhi added. “It affords them all the necessary tools to complete the tasks they’ve been entrusted with, and to prepare reports and keep track of the initiative’s implementation against the set timeline.”

The first of its kind anywhere in the world, the Dubai 10X initiative seeks to pair the Dubai Future Foundation with local government entities in the emirate to drastically overhaul the traditional and stereotypical government functions, and adopt new models for the governments of the future.

The new models – set by DFF in collaboration with various relevant government bodies – will reflect the UAE’s strategic objectives and direction. They will promote innovation and set the foundations for a future-ready generation that can cope with the rapid global changes and face the coming challenges.
